Hello! My name is Kari Gray, I live with PTSD and Sanctuary Trauma. When I was diagnosed I was a mental health nurse and crisis worker. I am no longer a practicing nurse as I have not been able to work due to PTSD for over three years. Nurses in Ontario are considered to be first responders and I have been able to be a part of the First Responder and Military supports while recovering with WSIB.
This blog came out of from my experiences. My journey to recovery is not complete. It is difficult, scary at times and complex. I am not a fan of journalling and it was recommended that possibly a blog could help me along the journey. (Please be aware that some stories may be a trigger to you, I will do my best to warn you if any possible triggers in my stories exist).
As a visitor here, you are part of my continuing journey. I hope that my stories, and stories of others, can provide you with some comfort in knowing that you are not alone. Provide some insight to help you and your clients. Provide some understanding for your loved ones and their struggles. And I hope this blog will also provide you with a voice to tell your stories of life with PTSD.
Thank you so much for being part of this community. There are plenty of ways that you can become more involved. Please share my blog with anyone you feel may benefit from reading about my journey and the journeys of my peers. Comment on my posts, please be kind and understanding. This blog is for positivity and hope, do not discourage anyone from being their authentic self while trying to recover.
This is not a crisis line nor do I provide counselling. Please call 911 if you are at risk of harming yourself or someone else. Crisis lines are available to you as well.
